देहरादून :
Dehradun, 4 February: The 38th National Games are being organized with the theme of “Green Games.” As part of this eco-friendly initiative, the Uttarakhand government has taken several steps to promote sustainability during the event.
For the first time, Uttarakhand is hosting the National Games and aims to spread the message of Green Games. The state forest department will develop “Khel Van” (Sports Forest) on 2.77 hectares of land near Maharana Pratap Sports College. A total of 1,600 Rudraksh trees will be planted in honor of the medal-winning athletes from the games. Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami will inaugurate the Khel Van on February 10.
Prime Minister Narendra Modi had praised the Uttarakhand government’s green initiatives during the National Games’ inaugural ceremony. Currently, fencing work is underway to develop Khel Van, and on February 10, Rudraksh saplings will be planted at the site.
“Champions Inspire Us”
A large signboard with the slogan “Champions Inspire Us” is being installed at the Khel Van. According to Amit Sinha, Chief Executive Officer of the National Games Secretariat, each tree will serve as a living memory of the athletes’ outstanding achievements.
Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami emphasized the significance of this initiative, stating:
“Inspired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, we are successfully organizing the National Games with the theme of Green Games. Through this initiative, we aim to spread the message of environmental conservation far and wide. The ‘Khel Van’ is an important step in this direction.”
