Goa, 20th November : At the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), Navneet Kumar Sehgal, Chairman of Prasar Bharati, highlighted the transformative step of the public broadcaster with the launch of its OTT platform, Waves. In an interview, Sehgal discussed how Waves is designed to offer clean, family-friendly entertainment along with a wide range of services.
Speaking about the platform, Sehgal emphasized its uniqueness. “Prasar Bharati is going with the times. It’s a digital platform, and Waves is different from other OTT platforms in the market. We are trying to give clean and family entertainment. Not only that, but we are also providing a host of other services like news to keep you updated on national and global events, easy shopping connected with ONDC, games for children, films, and other apps,” he said.
The platform also revisits the broadcaster’s rich archive of shows, bringing a nostalgic touch to its modern offering. Sehgal added, “All the serials and programs that we have grown up with are available again. You can relive your childhood and your upbringing by watching what you may have missed.”
When asked about the 90s programming and the nostalgic value it holds, Sehgal reflected, “We used to be very happy watching all these serials like ‘Yeh Joh Hai Zindagi’, ‘Buniyaad’ and ‘Hum Log’. They are now available, and you can watch them anytime.”
With Waves, Prasar Bharati aims to blend its legacy with modern technology, making it accessible through smartphones and internet-enabled devices. Sehgal encouraged viewers to download the app and experience the difference, saying, “It’s a very exciting platform to watch. I request all viewers to switch on the app as soon as it is live and see the difference it makes to the entertainment world in your homes.”
The launch of Waves signals a significant shift for Prasar Bharati, positioning it as a key player in the digital entertainment landscape.
