New Delhi, 8th October : Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded the Bharatiya Janata Party’s unprecedented triumph in Haryana, securing a third consecutive term, a first in the state’s electoral history. Addressing party members at the BJP headquarters, Modi congratulated the workers for their relentless efforts and directed a scathing critique at the Congress, accusing it of being a “parasitic party” reliant on alliances for victories.

Referring to the Congress’ performance in Jammu & Kashmir, Modi claimed that the party’s ally predicted their downfall due to Congress’ involvement. He further alleged that Congress won many of its seats in the Lok Sabha elections only through the support of coalition partners. “Congress’ presence has often led to the decline of its partners, destroying their political strength in states,” he remarked, hinting at upcoming elections in Maharashtra and Jharkhand, where Congress is contesting as part of alliances.

Highlighting Haryana’s political trajectory, the Prime Minister noted, “Since its creation in 1966, Haryana has seen 13 elections, and in 10 of those, voters changed the ruling government. But for the first time in history, a government has won two terms and now secured a third. The people of Haryana have not only voted for us but have given us more seats and an increased vote share.”

The BJP’s historic victory in Haryana comes amid significant challenges, including anti-incumbency sentiments, discontent among farmers and Jats, and concerns over the Agniveer scheme. Despite these hurdles, the party is leading in 48 out of 90 seats, while the Congress trails with 37, far from the 46 needed for a majority.

Modi’s address also heavily criticized the Congress for its stance on national institutions and the armed forces. He accused the party of being “anti-youth” and “anti-army” and claimed it was attempting to tarnish the reputation of institutions that are a source of national pride. “Before the Lok Sabha elections, Congress and its alliance partners, along with Urban Naxal sympathizers, repeatedly approached the courts to undermine these institutions, questioning their integrity and independence,” he added.

With a decisive victory in Haryana and a commendable showing in Jammu, the BJP has gained momentum ahead of future electoral battles, recovering from the disappointment of the recent Lok Sabha election outcomes.
