Kolkata, Aug 24, 2025 : In a shocking revelation, the chargesheet filed in the Kolkata law college rape case exposes the chilling details of the assault, including that the crime was filmed through a hole in a wall likely meant for an exhaust fan. The 650-page chargesheet names four accused: Manojit Mishra, the main perpetrator and an alumnus of the college, co-accused students Zaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee, and security guard Pinaki Banerjee.
According to the police, the first-year student was allegedly gang-raped on June 25 on the South Calcutta Law College campus. CCTV footage shows the accused dragging and holding the victim hostage. Multiple obscene videos of the victim were recovered from the accused’s mobile phones, confirming that the crime was filmed from the hole in the wall. Voice samples from these videos matched the accused, and mobile location data placed them at the crime scene.
The chargesheet also revealed that the security guard, instead of alerting authorities, locked the guard room during the assault, leading to his inclusion as an accused. Manojit Mishra had previously been arrested eight times but was repeatedly bailed out by friends. He was employed as temporary staff at the college since 2024 but has now been dismissed. Zaib Ahmed and Pramit Mukherjee, students of the college, have been expelled.
The forensic investigation confirmed rape through medical examination, and DNA samples from the accused matched the victim’s samples. The police have emphasized that the videos were used to blackmail the survivor.
The incident has sparked widespread outrage, with protests on campus demanding justice for the victim. Authorities continue to investigate the case, ensuring that legal proceedings follow swiftly against all involved.
The chargesheet’s harrowing details have brought attention to the need for stricter surveillance and accountability measures in educational institutions to prevent such crimes.
