New Delhi, August 11, 2025 - A father’s lighthearted Raksha Bandhan morning took an unexpectedly hilarious turn when his four-year-old daughter called the child helpline to “report” her mother as a “bad girl” for scolding her over a dress. The incident, shared by the father on Reddit, quickly went viral, leaving netizens in stitches.
The father, a software engineer, explained in his post that he has identical twin daughters — one “sweet and calm” and the other “hell notorious.” On Raksha Bandhan morning, he and his wife were getting the girls ready for the celebration. The more mischievous twin, however, was upset about the outfit her mother had chosen for her.
Running late, the mother raised her voice, which made the little girl cry harder and run to her father. While he was dressing her in an outfit she preferred, she grabbed his phone, waved it at her mother, and issued a warning: “Shout again and I’ll call 1098.”
The number 1098 — India’s child helpline — had been taught to both daughters for emergencies. The little girl didn’t fully understand its use, only that it was a “special number” to call if her parents weren’t around.
According to the father’s post, she initially used the phone to taunt her mom, but moments later slipped into another room and actually made the call.
‘Mumma is a bad girl’
When a counsellor from the helpline answered, the girl opened with, “Mumma is a bad girl, she shouted at me.” On being asked why, she replied, “Because I didn’t like the clothes she bought for me, so I didn’t want to wear them.”
She proudly added that her father had dressed her in her favorite outfit instead, which her mother had disapproved of. After chatting for a bit, she got impatient, hung up, and returned to her parents, declaring, “I have called the police and they are coming home.”
Internet Reacts
The Reddit post drew widespread amusement. Many users praised the little girl’s quick thinking and sass. One commented, “Four-year-olds are becoming smart these days. I would have been convinced with a toffee back then.” Another joked, “Can I call retroactively against my parents? I’m in my middle age now.”
The father clarified that while the call was innocent, it also served as a reminder that children pay close attention to what they are taught, even if they interpret it in unexpected ways.
The story has since become a viral reminder of childhood innocence, humor, and the unpredictable moments that come with parenting.
