Ahmedabad, August 5, 2025 : In a deeply disturbing incident, a woman allegedly killed her police constable husband in front of their 7-year-old son and then died by suicide in Ahmedabad on Monday morning. The tragic episode occurred in the government quarters allotted to the couple at the Danilimda police line.

According to Deputy Commissioner of Police Ravi Mohan Saini, the victim, Mukesh Parmar, was attached to the A Division Traffic Police Station. A preliminary investigation revealed that the couple had been experiencing prolonged marital discord, which escalated fatally.

On the morning of the incident, an argument reportedly broke out between the couple while their minor son was present in the house. In a fit of rage, Sangita Parmar struck her husband on the head with a wooden stick. The impact proved fatal, and Mukesh died on the spot.

Following the murder, Sangita allegedly hanged herself. A suicide note recovered from the scene pointed to long-standing issues related to both their marriage and financial struggles as the reasons for the fatal argument. The note also reportedly mentioned her emotional distress and the inability to cope with their deteriorating relationship.

“The incident was the result of continued domestic strife. The woman took the extreme step following an intense argument,” DCP Saini said, adding that the investigation is ongoing.

The couple’s young son, who witnessed the entire event, is currently in the care of relatives and is being provided psychological support. Authorities have stated that child welfare officials will be involved to ensure his well-being in the aftermath of the traumatic experience.

The tragic murder-suicide has sent shockwaves through the local police force and the Danilimda neighborhood. Colleagues of Mukesh Parmar described him as a quiet and diligent officer, though some acknowledged he had spoken about personal stress in recent months.

Mental health experts have weighed in, saying that prolonged domestic abuse or unresolved conflicts can have devastating consequences when not addressed in time. They stress the importance of counseling, community support, and timely intervention in cases where tensions between partners escalate beyond control.

As the investigation continues, police are examining the couple’s history and any previous complaints that may have been lodged. So far, no FIRs or official domestic violence complaints have been found on record.

This incident adds to a growing concern about mental health, domestic violence, and the pressures faced by law enforcement families—often under immense stress both professionally and personally.

Authorities have urged individuals facing similar situations to seek help through counseling services and helplines rather than resorting to violence or self-harm.
