Damascus, 16 July : A shocking video has gone viral on social media showing a Syrian news anchor running off set during a live broadcast, moments before a missile strike hit the area. The incident occurred on Monday night as Israel carried out airstrikes in Damascus, targeting what it claimed were military installations, including Syria’s state-run media facilities.

In the video, which has been widely circulated online, the anchor appears visibly shaken as loud explosions are heard in the background. The lights flicker, and within seconds, the anchor abandons the desk and runs for cover. The screen goes black shortly after, cutting off the live feed.

The attack comes after a strong warning from Israel's Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, who posted a message on social media earlier in the day. “The warnings in Damascus have ended – now painful blows will come,” he said. Israeli officials later confirmed that their air force had launched targeted strikes against Iranian military infrastructure and Syrian defense positions believed to be aiding hostile activities against Israel.

According to Syrian state media, multiple sites were hit, including the headquarters of Syria’s official television broadcaster. Reports indicate that several buildings were damaged and at least two people were injured. However, details remain unclear due to restricted access and ongoing security threats in the area.

The Israeli military has not publicly confirmed the full list of targets, but anonymous sources suggested that one of the strikes may have been aimed at jamming equipment and intelligence operations linked to Iranian-backed forces operating in the region.

The dramatic footage of the anchor’s sudden exit during the live broadcast has drawn global attention. Many viewers expressed concern over the safety of media professionals working in conflict zones. Others have pointed to the video as a stark reminder of the real-time dangers faced by civilians and journalists alike during ongoing hostilities.

In recent months, tensions between Israel and Iran-backed groups in Syria have escalated, with Israel increasing its strikes to prevent the transfer of weapons and intelligence to Hezbollah and other militias. Syria, on the other hand, has accused Israel of violating international law and sovereignty.

This latest incident raises concerns about the conflict's growing reach into civilian infrastructure, including media outlets. Human rights organizations have warned against the targeting of journalists and news stations, emphasizing the need to protect freedom of the press, even in times of war.

As the dust settles, Syrians remain on edge, bracing for further attacks while navigating life amidst growing instability. Meanwhile, the viral video of the anchor’s terrifying moment continues to echo around the world, serving as a haunting symbol of a region caught in the crossfire.
