New Delhi (Desk) : Soaked almonds are a common part of many Indian households, especially as a morning ritual for better memory, digestion, and overall health. But most people tend to peel off the brown skin after soaking often without a second thought. While this habit may seem harmless, it could actually be making your almonds less nutritious.

That thin, papery skin you peel away is more than just a covering. It contains powerful antioxidants, mainly polyphenols, which help protect your body from free radical damage. These compounds are known to reduce inflammation, support heart health, and may even lower the risk of certain cancers. In fact, studies have shown that the majority of an almond’s antioxidants are concentrated in its skin.

Almond skin is also a great source of dietary fiber. This fiber doesn’t just help with digestion, it also promotes a feeling of fullness, supports gut health, and helps stabilize blood sugar levels. Removing the skin reduces the fiber content, which means you’re getting less of these benefits from your snack.
