Hyderabad, often called the City of Pearls, is preparing to add another jewel to its crown—a massive artificial beach project that promises to bring coastal vibes to the heart of Telangana. With an investment of Rs 225 crore, the upcoming development at Kotwal Guda is designed to be much more than a sandy retreat; it will be a full-fledged entertainment and adventure hub for families, tourists, and weekend travelers.

A Coastal Experience Without Leaving the City

Beach vacations have always been a favorite among Indian travelers, but Hyderabadis often had to travel far to enjoy the waves and sandy shores. That is about to change. The Telangana government has approved the creation of a 35-acre artificial beach featuring a man-made lake, complete with sandy shores, floating villas, luxury hotels, and recreational activities.

Construction is expected to begin in December 2025 under a public-private partnership model. According to News18, the artificial beach is envisioned as a multi-sensory escape—an ideal spot where families can spend entire weekends without leaving the city.

What to Expect at Hyderabad’s Artificial Beach

The project goes far beyond the idea of a simple lake or sandy park. The upcoming beach will include:

A man-made lake with sandy shores for an authentic seaside feel.

Floating villas and luxury hotels to attract both domestic and international tourists.

Adventure sports facilities such as water rides, boating, and other thrilling activities.

Family-friendly spaces, including wave pools, play zones, cycling tracks, parks, and theatres.

Food courts and decorative fountains, ensuring visitors have everything they need for a complete outing.

This blend of leisure, sports, and relaxation is expected to transform the way Hyderabadis spend their weekends.

Why Kotwal Guda Was Chosen

The location of Kotwal Guda, on the outskirts of Hyderabad, was carefully picked for its strategic advantages. It lies close to the Outer Ring Road, providing excellent connectivity to the rest of the city while also offering ample space for large-scale development.

Another key focus of the project is eco-friendly construction. Authorities have assured that the artificial beach will be developed with strict adherence to environmental protection norms, minimizing ecological impact while maximizing tourist potential.

Telangana’s Tourism Vision

Patel Ramesh Reddy, Chairman of the Telangana State Tourism Development Corporation (TSTDC), confirmed that the Detailed Project Report (DPR) for the artificial beach has been completed. Construction is set to begin soon, and the project has already drawn significant attention from investors.

Reddy also noted that while the initial investment stands at Rs 225 crore, the project could potentially attract international investors, further boosting the state’s economy. He emphasized Telangana’s untapped tourism market, estimated to be worth more than Rs 15,000 crore, highlighting this beach as a flagship development to put Hyderabad on the global tourism map.

A New Face of Hyderabad Tourism

Hyderabad has always been famous for its historic monuments, rich culture, and of course, its world-renowned biryani. With the addition of an artificial beach, the city will now offer an entirely new dimension to its tourism profile.

Residents will soon be able to enjoy beachside weekends without traveling to coastal cities, while tourists visiting Hyderabad will find much more than heritage and cuisine to explore.

As work begins this December, Hyderabad’s artificial beach is set to redefine urban leisure and adventure tourism in India.
