Lucknow, 24 January 2025 : At the prestigious World Economic Forum (WEF) 2025 in Davos, Uttar Pradesh took a significant step towards forging stronger ties with the United Arab Emirates (UAE). A pivotal meeting was held on the third day of the summit between Mr. Amit Singh, Secretary to the Chief Minister of Uttar Pradesh, Mr. Anupam Shukla, Director of UPNEDA, and Mr. Abdulla Bin Touq Al Marri, Hon’ble Minister of Economy of the UAE. The discussion revolved around deepening cooperation in key sectors such as aviation, agriculture, logistics, infrastructure, and skill development.
Boosting Agriculture and Trade Through Jewar Airport
One of the primary focuses of the meeting was strengthening agricultural trade between Uttar Pradesh and the UAE. Uttar Pradesh, as one of India’s leading producers of fruits and vegetables, is poised to benefit significantly from enhanced air connectivity through the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar. The airport will act as a gateway for exporting fresh produce to the UAE, boosting the agricultural economy and enabling farmers to access international markets more efficiently.
The UAE expressed its interest in collaborating on food processing and infrastructure development to further streamline the supply chain for agricultural exports. This partnership is expected to provide a major boost to the state’s farmers and agro-based industries.
Skill Certification for Global Opportunities
With a significant number of workers from Uttar Pradesh already employed in the UAE, the meeting also focused on streamlining skill certification programs for youth seeking job opportunities abroad. The emphasis was placed on bridging the skill gap, ensuring that workers are industry-ready and equipped with certifications recognized by both Uttar Pradesh and the UAE.
This initiative aims to enhance the employability of the state’s workforce and ensure smoother integration into the UAE’s job market. A robust skill certification framework will not only benefit individuals but also strengthen the relationship between the two economies.
Infrastructure Development: A Key Area of Collaboration
Infrastructure development was another critical aspect of the discussions. The UAE expressed its eagerness to participate in various state projects, ranging from transportation to urban development. Private companies and funds from the UAE have shown a keen interest in partnering with Uttar Pradesh to boost its infrastructure, ensuring faster growth and economic prosperity.
A Promising Future of Economic Partnership
This meeting at WEF 2025 represents a significant milestone in the growing partnership between Uttar Pradesh and the UAE. By focusing on critical areas such as aviation, agriculture, logistics, and skill development, the collaboration promises to drive economic growth and create new opportunities for both parties.
Uttar Pradesh continues to position itself as a key player on the global stage, attracting international investments and fostering partnerships that pave the way for a prosperous future. The discussions with the UAE underscore the state’s commitment to innovation, growth, and global connectivity.
This burgeoning partnership signals a promising era of mutual growth, setting a benchmark for international cooperation in the years to come.
