Prayagraj, November 12 : Academicians and subject experts have shared their perspectives on the normalization process in the PCS and RO/ARO preliminary examinations conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Public Service Commission.

In response to the concerns raised by protesting students regarding the examination process, experts emphasize that aspirants preparing for administrative exams should first familiarize themselves with the normalization procedure before forming opinions or making decisions.

Meanwhile, some competitive exam candidates are viewing the protests as a conspiracy hatched by political parties.

Professor Yogeshwar Tiwari of Allahabad University highlights that students preparing for administrative services examinations should consider whether protesting disruptively aligns with the professional conduct expected of them.

He urged students to first understand the actual details of the normalization process before making any decisions. Subject experts have also voiced their support for normalization. Dr Apoorva Bhargava, an educationist and counselor, argued that if some protesting students oppose normalization based on concerns over unequal benefits from varying question difficulties within sections, their stance might be misguided.

She stressed that there has long been a need for qualitative improvements in administrative exams, and normalization is a step in that direction. "This system is already in place in many states, making the current opposition difficult to comprehend", she remarked.

In addition to academicians, leaders of private educational institutions are also advocating for normalization. Amit Tripathi, Center Head of Academy Prayagraj, supported the process, noting it should have been implemented earlier as it primarily benefits capable students. He pointed out that it was introduced in the NEET exam and widely accepted across other states without similar objections. He suggested that the government should better explain the positive aspects of normalization to competitive exam students.

Meanwhile, some students viewed the protests not as technical opposition but as politically motivated. Anuj Singh from Ballia, preparing for administrative services, mentioned a political leader joining the student protests, which was even captured on a viral video.

Devendra Pratap, another competitive exam aspirant, claimed that political parties often look for large gatherings to advance their agendas, which he believes is the case here.

Public Service Commission Secretary Ashok Kumar explained that recent exam rule changes were made in response to students' demands, such as ensuring government and aided colleges serve as test centers and limiting exam center distances to 10 kilometers. He emphasized that normalization is a standard practice in competitive exams nationwide that leaves no room for discrimination.
