Lucknow/New Delhi, July 23, 2024 : In the Union Budget 2024 announcements on Tuesday, the Finance Minister highlighted a commitment to enhancing women's participation in the labour force.
This initiative will be supported by the establishment of hostels, crèche and collaborations aimed at developing specialized skill training programs for women.
The Union Budget proposed schemes worth Rs 3 lakh crore for the benefit of women and girls, Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman said.
The Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman also emphasised on the substantial progress made in the empowerment of women over the past decade, significantly enhancing their dignity and ease of living.
“The number of new female members rose 12.1% in May 2024, with a 17.2% increase in net female additions. These measures support gender diversity goals and focus on the poor, women, youth, and farmers, aiming to boost women's participation in the workforce,” the Finance Minister said.
India's female labour force participation rate climbed to 24 per cent in Q2FY24.
