New Delhi, July 3, 2025 : In a major push towards the digital transformation of public services, the Government of India today launched ‘RailOne’, a comprehensive mobile application developed to unify and simplify railway-related services across the country. The app was officially launched by Union Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, who described it as a major milestone in the modernization of the Indian Railways and a tool designed to empower passengers with seamless digital access.

RailOne is designed to serve as a one-stop solution for all train travel needs. It allows users to book and cancel tickets, view and download train timetables, monitor live train running status, check coach and platform numbers, and receive real-time travel updates all from a single platform. In addition to essential features, the app also offers value-added services such as onboard food ordering, access to offline schedules, and customer support in multiple Indian languages.

Speaking at the launch event, Minister Vaishnaw emphasized the inclusive nature of the app. “RailOne is built for every Indian from the student commuting to college, to the farmer returning home, to the senior citizen visiting family. This is a leap towards making Indian Railways not just more efficient, but more humane and passenger-friendly,” he said.

The app’s functionality is enhanced by the integration of artificial intelligence. By analyzing travel patterns and preferences, RailOne is capable of offering personalized recommendations, saving frequently traveled routes, and issuing proactive alerts in case of delays or schedule changes. Developers also incorporated feedback from thousands of trial users to make the interface intuitive and accessible.

Officials revealed that the Railways Ministry is already working on future upgrades to the app. Upcoming features will include QR code–based check-ins at stations to ease crowd movement, integration with metro and local bus services for multimodal travel, and digital lockers for securely storing government-issued identification. These additions aim to further reduce the dependency on paperwork and physical queues.

RailOne is expected to significantly reduce congestion at railway stations by cutting down the need for physical ticket counters. It will also make travel planning easier, particularly in remote areas where access to multiple services has traditionally been limited or inconsistent. The offline mode allows passengers to check schedules and tickets without an active internet connection—ideal for low-connectivity zones.

The launch of RailOne is part of the broader “Digital India” initiative, which aims to digitize public services, enhance transparency, and increase efficiency in governance. Indian Railways, one of the largest railway networks in the world, carries over two crore passengers daily. With RailOne, the government aims to enhance this experience by leveraging the power of mobile technology.

Passengers can now download RailOne from the Google Play Store and Apple App Store. Support desks have also been set up at major railway stations to assist passengers unfamiliar with mobile apps or needing help with the transition.

With this launch, Indian Railways takes a firm step into the future, one where travel is not just about reaching a destination, but doing so with ease, comfort, and confidence.
