Lucknow, 19th July : Uttar Pradesh’s Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya hit back at Samajwadi Party (SP) President Akhilesh Yadav, describing the SP as a sinking ship and a party on the brink of extinction, with its future and present in peril. Maurya asserted that by 2027, the SP would be reduced to just 47 seats. He reiterated this on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the "monsoon offer" would see the SP diminished to 47 seats by 2027, with the help of the public and party workers. He criticized the SP as a party with no future, claiming that it is indulging in Mungerilal's daydreams that will never come true. Maurya confidently declared that the BJP would replicate its 2017 victory in 2027 and form the government again.

The exchange began after Akhilesh Yadav, amidst the turmoil following a BJP working committee meeting in Lucknow, made a statement on Thursday that drew sharp reactions from BJP leaders. Yadav had posted on X, "Monsoon offer: bring 100, form the government!" This prompted the response from Deputy CM Keshav.

Akhilesh Yadav and Deputy CM Keshav frequently target each other. After the BJP working committee meeting, Keshav had gone to Delhi to meet with the BJP president, which led Akhilesh to quip on X, "Laut Ke Buddhu Ghar Ko Aaaye" This comment was widely seen as a jab at Keshav.

Following the Lok Sabha election results, SP President Akhilesh Yadav has been openly targeting the BJP. In these elections, the SP achieved its best performance to date, winning 37 Lok Sabha seats in Uttar Pradesh.
