Lucknow, September 08 : Rooted in tradition yet driven by innovation, Uttar Pradesh is redefining healthcare for today’s world. The state draws on its rich legacy of Ayurvedic wisdom, Unani knowledge, and Yoga practices, integrating them with modern pharmaceuticals, biotechnology, and wellness infrastructure. UP is steadily carving its place in the global wellness economy. To achieve this, the government has launched a series of initiatives aimed at strengthening healthcare infrastructure, promoting traditional medicine systems, and fostering innovation across the medical and wellness sectors. These measures align with the state’s vision to become a leader in integrated healthcare solutions, where ancient knowledge and modern technology work in harmony. Platforms like UPITS serve as catalysts, showcasing these achievements, facilitating collaborations, and opening doors to international partnerships and investment opportunities in healthcare and wellness.

With a vision to become a global wellness leader, Uttar Pradesh has developed the mega Bulk Drug Pharma Park in Lalitpur, spread over 1,472 acres under the UP Pharma Policy 2023. With ₹250 crore already allocated for infrastructure and a total investment target of around ₹12,000 crore, the park aims to strengthen domestic pharmaceutical production and reduce import dependence. It will host state-of-the-art R&D labs, manufacturing units, logistics hubs, and green zones, and is expected to generate approximately 14,000 direct and indirect jobs. This park is set to transform Uttar Pradesh into a benchmark for pharmaceutical excellence and innovation.

Through a series of strategic initiatives in Ayurveda, Unani, Yoga, and Naturopathy. The Uttar Pradesh government has allocated ₹1,138.5 crore to strengthen AYUSH services, setting up 552 health and wellness centers, 250 dispensaries, and 8 Ayurvedic hospitals. An Unani medical college is also being established, and existing facilities are being upgraded with modern equipment and essential medicines. Integrated AYUSH colleges are being developed in every division, combining Ayurveda, Unani, and Homoeopathy with Naturopathy and Yoga centers. These efforts are supported by community wellness programs, including mass Yoga sessions and preventive healthcare initiatives, promoting holistic well-being, research, and public health awareness across the state.

The state organizes community Yoga sessions, workshops, and wellness camps across districts, making health awareness and preventive care accessible to all. By promoting Ayurveda and traditional therapies alongside modern wellness facilities, Uttar Pradesh is also positioning itself as a destination for wellness tourism, attracting visitors from across India and abroad. Complementing this, the Pharma & Biotech Industrial Policy is fostering research-based pharma startups, biotechnology incubators, and skill development programs for medical manufacturing. Multiple districts now host pharma clusters and industrial corridors supported by single-window clearance systems to streamline approvals. The state is also investing in state-of-the-art testing and certification labs for medical devices and pharma formulations, enabling faster regulatory compliance and boosting international exports.
