New Delhi | August 17, 2025 : In a deeply disturbing incident, a 39-year-old man has been arrested in Delhi’s Hauz Qazi area for allegedly raping his 65-year-old mother twice, claiming it was a form of “punishment” for her supposed past relationships. The accused was taken into custody after the survivor, accompanied by her younger daughter, filed a complaint with the police. A case has been registered under Section 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS).
Incident After Religious Trip
According to police officials, the woman, her husband, and younger daughter had recently returned from a religious trip to Saudi Arabia on July 17. During their absence, the accused repeatedly called his father and insisted that he return to Delhi immediately. He allegedly pressurized him to divorce his wife, accusing her of having illicit relationships during his childhood.
When the family returned on August 1, tensions escalated. The complaint states that the accused locked his mother in a room, forced her to remove her burqa, physically assaulted her, and then raped her. He reportedly told her that she had “spoiled” him during his early years and that he was punishing her.
Second Assault Reported
After the first incident, the woman left her home and took shelter at her elder daughter’s house. She returned on August 11, hoping for reconciliation. However, the abuse continued.
At around 9:30 pm on August 11, the accused insisted on speaking to his mother privately. He locked her inside a room once again and accused her of having past relationships. Three days later, on August 14, at about 3:30 am, the accused allegedly raped her a second time under the pretext of delivering “punishment.”
Complaint and Arrest
The next morning, the woman confided in her 25-year-old younger daughter, who encouraged her to approach the police. Together, they went to the Hauz Qazi police station and submitted a written complaint detailing the horrific ordeal.
Police registered a case under Section 64 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to the offence of rape. The accused was arrested shortly afterward, and investigations are currently underway.
Family Background
The survivor lives in Delhi with her husband, a retired government employee, the accused son, and her younger daughter. The family’s elder daughter is married and lives nearby with her in-laws. Police sources said the accused appeared to harbor long-standing resentment toward his mother, which escalated into violence after their return from the trip.
Official Response
Authorities have described the case as one of the most disturbing instances of domestic sexual violence reported in recent months. “The complaint was taken very seriously. The accused has been arrested, and further investigation is on to verify all details and provide protection to the survivor,” a police officer said.
The survivor is currently under the care of her daughters, while the investigation team continues to gather evidence, including medical reports and witness statements.
