अहमदाबाद : Ahmedabad, 13 June : Prime Minister Narendra Modi arrived in Ahmedabad on Friday to visit the site of the Air India Boeing 787-8 Dreamliner crash, which claimed 241 lives—marking one of the most devastating aviation disasters in recent history.
Upon landing at Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel International Airport, PM Modi proceeded directly to the crash site in the Meghaninagar area. He was accompanied by Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, officials confirmed.

High-Level Probe Underway-
On Thursday, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu Kinjarapu also visited the crash site to assess the situation. Minister Kinjarapu confirmed that the Centre has constituted a high-level committee to investigate the cause of the crash.
Only One Survivor from the Crash-
Of the 242 people on board, only one—a British national of Indian origin—survived. The crash occurred just seconds after flight AI 171 departed for London Gatwick from Ahmedabad around 1:30 PM on Thursday.
Aircraft Crashes into Medical College Quarters-
Officials reported that the aircraft lost altitude soon after takeoff and crashed into the residential quarters of doctors at BJ Medical College in Meghaninagar. The crash triggered a massive blaze, with thick black smoke rising into the sky.
‘Mayday’ Call Sent Before Crash-
Air Traffic Control officials confirmed that the pilot issued a ‘Mayday’ distress call, indicating a full-scale emergency. Experts suggest that a bird strike or dual engine thrust failure could be possible causes, based on early visual evidence.
Rescue and Medical Response-
Grim visuals from the site showed rescue teams retrieving bodies from the wreckage while several injured victims, many with burn injuries, were rushed to the nearby city civil hospital.
