नई दिल्ली (डेस्क) : Aug 12, 2025, New Delhi : This Independence Day, Bollywood superstar Aamir Khan spent a special day with Indian soldiers stationed at the border in Jammu and Kashmir’s Akhnoor region. Returning to the much-loved Jai Jawan programme more than two decades after his first appearance, Aamir once again joined the brave men and women of the armed forces to boost morale and celebrate their dedication.
Aamir fondly recalled his initial involvement in Jai Jawan, shortly after the Kargil War victory. “Prannoy ji told me we had won the war and asked if I could meet the soldiers to lift their spirits. I said I won’t do it for just one day, but for eight days,” he said. Back then, Jai Jawan was not a full-fledged programme, yet Aamir made time to connect with various regiments over several days.
During this year’s Jai Jawan, Aamir Khan was seen taking part in a variety of activities with the soldiers. From shooting India-made assault rifles at the firing range to riding in an army tank, the actor demonstrated his enthusiasm and respect for the armed forces. Beyond marksmanship, he also showcased his skills in cooking, badminton, and squash while spending quality time with the troops.
In a heartwarming moment, Aamir watched his latest film Sitaare Zameen Par with the jawans in their mess during lunch. The film, notable for featuring 10 debutant neurodivergent actors in prominent roles, holds a special place for the actor. He praised the cast, saying, “They all were very good with their lines. They are hardworking. We had no problems working with them. They worked harder than ‘normal’ actors. I’m so happy you all are watching the film here in your mess.”
The day culminated with a lively stage presentation where Aamir Khan sang and danced along with the soldiers, celebrating their spirit and camaraderie. During the event, a soldier asked Aamir who he would like to see play the role of Bhuvan if his blockbuster movie Lagaan were ever remade today. This lighthearted exchange added a personal touch to the festivities.
Aamir Khan’s return to Jai Jawan was not only a tribute to the armed forces but also a reminder of the enduring bond between the film fraternity and the nation’s defenders. His presence, energy, and heartfelt interactions made the day unforgettable for both the soldiers and the star himself. |
