The Yogi government has launched a major initiative for the holistic development of rural Uttar Pradesh, with a planned investment of Rs 22,000 crore under various central and state schemes. This ambitious effort aims to equip villages with essential infrastructure and services, including sanitation, employment, housing, and drainage. Of the total investment, Rs 10,500 crore will come from centrally sponsored schemes, while nearly Rs 11,500 crore will be funded by the state—ensuring that rural areas are fully integrated into the mainstream of development.

*Over Rs 1,000 crore approved, Rs 900 crore spent in initial stage by development. Sanitation remains a top priority for the government, with Rs 2,000 crore allocated specifically for the Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin). This funding will be used for toilet construction, solid and liquid waste management, strengthening village sanitation committees, and running public awareness campaigns.
Under the rural development plan, financial approvals worth more than Rs 1,000 crore have already been granted. Additionally, development works worth nearly Rs 900 crore have commenced in the initial phase. These include road construction, drainage systems, construction of panchayat buildings, community toilets, and drinking water supply projects.
Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath has directed officials to ensure that each village is developed in a way that all necessary amenities are accessible to its residents. He has also warned that negligence in executing these initiatives will not be tolerated. |
