मैड्रिड (स्पेन) : Madrid, 1 June : An all-party Indian parliamentary delegation, led by DMK MP Kanimozhi Karunanidhi, arrived in Madrid on Sunday as part of India’s diplomatic campaign to reinforce its firm zero-tolerance policy on terrorism.
During their two-day visit, the delegation will meet with Spanish government officials, members of the Indian diaspora, and civil society leaders to present India’s uncompromising stance, particularly in light of cross-border terror threats.
The Indian Embassy in Spain confirmed the delegation’s arrival in a post on X, stating, “The All-Party Parliamentary Delegation, led by MP Ms. @kanimozhidmk and comprising members @RajeevRai, @CaptBrijesh, @GUPTAPC50 and @DrAshokKMittal, arrived in Madrid today. Over the next two days, the delegation will meet with members of the Spanish government, the Indian diaspora and civil society representatives to present India’s stance of #ZeroToleranceForTerrorism.”

Before arriving in Spain, the delegation visited Latvia, where they held meetings with key members of the Latvian Parliament, including Ingrida Circene, Chairperson of the India-Latvia Parliamentary Group, and Inara Murniece, Chairperson of the Foreign Affairs Committee. Discussions centered on India’s national security priorities and its resolve to respond strongly to terrorism, particularly threats originating from Pakistan.
MP Ashok Mittal shared updates on social media, saying the team conveyed India’s unified message of zero tolerance towards terrorism during their meetings in Latvia.
The delegation also met Latvian State Secretary Andzejs Vilumson and Ambassador Andrejs Pildegovics, Latvia’s Special Envoy for its UN Security Council bid. The Indian side highlighted the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, which Latvia unequivocally condemned.
Vilumson reaffirmed Latvia’s opposition to terrorism in all its forms and expressed solidarity with India over the Pahalgam incident that occurred in April.
This visit to Spain is part of a larger diplomatic outreach under “Operation Sindoor,” which has included stops in Latvia, Greece, Slovenia, and Russia. The initiative seeks to counter Pakistan-sponsored terrorism and build international consensus for coordinated global action against terror networks. |
