नई दिल्ली : New Delhi, April 29: Chief Minister of Uttarakhand, Pushkar Singh Dhami, today paid a courtesy call on Union Jal Shakti Minister C.R. Patil in New Delhi. During the meeting, the Chief Minister requested approval for the development and construction of eight hydroelectric projects to accelerate the social and economic development of Uttarakhand.
The Chief Minister affirmed the Uttarakhand Government’s unwavering commitment to preserving the sanctity and uninterrupted flow of River Ganga and other rivers, along with environmental conservation. He stated that the state government is advancing its developmental goals by adhering to the recommendations of environmental experts and pursuing sustainable development.

Seeks Approval for Development of 8 Hydroelectric Projects in Uttarakhand
a key project, the Chief Minister said that the 114 MW “Sela Urthing Hydroelectric Project” is located on the Dhauliganga River in Pithoragarh district. He emphasized that this project lies outside the Ganga Basin and, therefore, does not fall under the restrictions imposed on projects within the Ganga or its tributaries. He requested the Union Minister to grant approval for the project and to direct concerned officials to take necessary action in this regard.
Additionally, the Chief Minister urged the Union Minister to grant permission for seven more hydroelectric projects with a combined capacity of 647 MW. These projects are recommended by the committee chaired by the Cabinet Secretary, Government of India, and supported by the State Government’s request.
