Nepal Resets Governance: 1,594 Political Appointments Revoked

Kathmandu, May 3, 2026 In a sweeping move aimed at restructuring governance, Nepal has cancelled 1,594 political appointments, marking a significant shift in administrative control. The action follows an ordinance issued by President Ram Chandra Poudel, which annulled all political appointments made before March 26. As a result, individuals serving in various roles across public bodies were removed from their positions with immediate effect, irrespective of their remaining tenure.
