Lucknow, 14 Feb, 2026 08:19 PMNew Delhi | 14 Feb 2026 The New Delhi Municipal Council has stepped up security, cleanliness, and beautification efforts across Lutyens’ Delhi as the city prepares to host the India-AI Impact Summit 2026 from February 16 to 20. Officials said the aim is to ensure smooth civic services, strong surveillance, and a well-maintained environment during the high-profile event in New Delhi. As part of the preparations, NDMC Vice-Chairperson Kuljeet Chahal carried out an on-ground review starting from the Integrated Command and Control Centre, where civic operations and security are being monitored in real time. Explaining the measures, he said, “A total of 333 NDMC CCTV cameras and 183 Delhi Police cameras have been integrated with the ICCC for round-the-clock surveillance. A dedicated traffic coordination helpline has also been set up in coordination with Delhi Traffic Police.” The council has also strengthened sanitation and environmental monitoring. “All sanitation and service vehicles are being tracked through GPS, including RFID-enabled bins, jetting machines, mechanical road sweepers, anti-smog guns and water tankers. Ninety-nine garbage-prone spots at hotels, markets and other high-footfall areas have been identified for multiple daily collections,” the statement said. Chahal added that 20 air-quality sensors have been installed, while complaints from the NDMC 311 app, website, and phone calls are being centrally tracked for quick action. “A 24x7 multi-department control team has been deployed, with senior officers overseeing operations,” he said. Alongside security and sanitation, NDMC has launched a large beautification drive. More than 15,000 potted plants and 4,000 hanging baskets are being placed across the area, along with special lighting at key buildings and junctions. Forty-one major roads are being upgraded with better signage, markings, lighting, and pedestrian facilities. Officials said inspections have already been carried out at important stretches such as Janpath, Ashoka Road, Akbar Road, and Sardar Patel Marg to ensure everything is in place before the summit begins.
