Mamata Banerjee Rushes I-PAC Co-Founder’s Home Amid ED Raids, Alleges Political Vendetta
YUGVARTA NEWS
Lucknow, 8 Jan, 2026 11:37 PMWest Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee on Wednesday arrived at the residence of Indian Political Action Committee (I-PAC) co-founder Prateek Jain, where Enforcement Directorate (ED) teams were conducting searches in connection with an alleged fake government job scam linked to money laundering. Kolkata Police Commissioner Manoj Verma was also present at the site during the visit. The ED said it carried out searches at 15 locations across the country as part of an investigation into an organised racket that allegedly duped people by promising government jobs. According to officials, the raids were conducted based on material evidence gathered during the probe. The searches sparked a strong political reaction from the Trinamool Congress (TMC). Speaking to reporters, Mamata Banerjee accused the Centre of misusing central agencies for political purposes and directly targeted Union Home Minister Amit Shah, questioning whether it was the ED’s role to seize party-related documents and data. Linking the raids to upcoming elections, Banerjee alleged that her party was being deliberately targeted. Calling the action “unfortunate,” she described the searches as political vendetta rather than law enforcement, while the ED maintained that the operation was purely part of its ongoing investigation.
