TGSRTC to Operate 7,754 Special Buses for Bathukamma & Dasara Festival Rush

To manage the festival travel surge during Bathukamma and Dasara, the Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TGSRTC) has announced that it will run 7,754 special buses from today until October 2, 2025. Of these, 377 buses will be available under advance-booking facilities. Authorities expect the highest demand between September 27 and September 30, especially before Saddula Bathukamma on September 30 and Dasara on October 2. Return services are planned for October 5 and 6 to accommodate people coming back from festivities. These special buses will be deployed from major bus stations in Hyderabad, including MGBS, JBS, and CBS, and key boarding points such as LB Nagar, Uppal, and Dilsukhnagar. Buses will connect to destinations not only within Telangana but also across neighbouring states including Andhra Pradesh, Karnataka, and Maharashtra. On peak days, fares will be revised for certain routes to manage the load and maintain schedule efficiency. To meet the demand, TGSRTC is deploying 617 more buses than were provided last year for the same festival season. Additional measures include setting up temporary passenger amenities at major boarding hubs to ensure comfort, managing crowd flow, and improving safety. The corporation has also arranged for extra staff at ticket counters, helpdesks, and for on-road support to handle breakdowns and assistance needs. Travelers are being urged to plan ahead, especially those intending to travel on peak dates. Advance booking is recommended where available. Officials confirm that information on boarding points, timings, and seating will be widely publicized through print media, radio, and social media. For travellers using return-services, special arrangements have been made to deal with traffic congestion and delays expected around festival end dates. The move comes as part of the Telangana government’s effort to ensure smooth transport during major festivals, recognizing that festival travel places large stress on public transport networks. With more people travelling than usual to their homes, religious sites, and holiday destinations, this is seen as vital to avoid chaos, long waits, and unsafe travel conditions. TGSRTC officials say they are coordinating with traffic and law enforcement authorities to ensure that bus movements are not hampered by road congestion, especially on routes that are known bottlenecks. In summary, the special bus services are an attempt to ensure that the festival period is handled more efficiently, travel is safer, and citizens don’t face undue hardship. Officials believe that with enough preparation, public communication, and coordination, the operation will meet its goals of easing travel during one of the busiest times of the year for Telangana.
