CM Stalin Launches

Chennai, Tamil Nadu, September 15, 2025 :  Tamil Nadu Chief Minister M.K. Stalin today launched the "Anbukkarangal" (Loving Hands) program, a new initiative to provide financial assistance for the education of orphaned children. The program, launched on the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister C.N. Annadurai, is part of the government's broader "Thayumanavar" scheme, which aims to provide support for those living in poverty. Under the new initiative, a total of 6,082 children who have lost one or both parents will receive a monthly stipend of ₹2,000 each until they complete their school education. The goal of the program is to prevent children from dropping out of school due to financial hardship and to ensure that they have a chance to complete their education. The Chief Minister, speaking at the launch event, reiterated that his government's welfare schemes are driven by a commitment to the public, not by vote-bank politics. In other news, the political landscape in Tamil Nadu is heating up ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections. Chief Minister Stalin, in a recent address, criticized the large crowds at political rallies organized by actor-turned-politician Vijay, accusing his rival of engaging in "cheap politics" and gathering a "crowd without ideology." Meanwhile, a special court in Chennai has sentenced a hotel worker to 20 years in prison under the POCSO Act for sexually assaulting his stepdaughter, a verdict that was based on medical evidence and a teacher's testimony, even though the victim and her mother later retracted their statements. The case is being seen as a landmark decision for protecting victims of abuse
