YUGVARTA NEWS
Lucknow, 16 Sep, 2025 06:12 PMPrime Minister Narendra Modi is scheduled to visit Arunachal Pradesh on September 22, 2025, for a high-profile trip during which several major infrastructure and development projects will be inaugurated or have their foundation stones laid.
Among the standout projects is the announcement to begin construction of the Frontier Highway, an approximately 1,830-km strategic road connecting Bomdila in West Kameng district to Vijaynagar in Changlang district, running close to the McMahon Line along the India-China border. This highway is expected to significantly enhance connectivity in border areas, improve access for remote communities, and strengthen strategic logistic capability.
Additionally, two hydroelectric projects—Tato-I (186 MW) and Heo (240 MW) on the Yarjep river—will be inaugurated. These are expected to boost power availability in the region, reduce dependency on non-renewable energy, and contribute to region’s economic activity.
Another key initiative will be phase two of the Vibrant Village Programme (VVP). Under this phase, 122 border villages will receive improved road connectivity, electrification, telecom and television services. These include 67 villages along the India-Myanmar border and 55 villages along the India-Bhutan border. The project underscores the government’s focus on integrating remote border communities with mainstream infrastructure.
In the lead-up to the visit, Itanagar has been undergoing a beautification drive including civic upgrades and road improvements. Security has also been tightened, in keeping with high-visibility official visits.
The combination of connectivity, electricity, and border-region development projects signals a push to strengthen not only Alaska’s infrastructure but national security and socio-economic access in areas that have long had limited resources. For Arunachal Pradesh residents, these projects carry promise of better roads, more consistent power, improved access to services, and overall uplift in border and tribal regions.
