UP’s underprivileged students to get advanced training in drones and space science

Lucknow , December 21 : Atal Residential Schools in Uttar Pradesh are set to evolve beyond conventional residential institutions into centers of advanced technical education and innovation. In alignment with the National Education Policy–2020 and the visionary leadership of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the state government is moving swiftly to establish Composite Skill and Innovation Labs in every Atal Residential School.

The initiative aims to provide hands-on exposure to cutting-edge technologies such as drone technology, robotics, automation, space science, 3D printing, and artificial intelligence for students from rural areas, labor families, and underprivileged backgrounds. For the first time, students from these sections will gain access to world-class technical training at the school level.

Acting on the directions of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, the project will be implemented in mission mode. A pilot phase will be launched in selected schools within two months, followed by the rollout of fully functional innovation labs across all Atal Residential Schools within six months. Pooja Yadav, Secretary of the Uttar Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board and Director General of Atal Residential Schools, stated that all necessary financial arrangements have been made, ensuring smooth and uninterrupted implementation.

The initiative will be supported by leading technical institutions and expert agencies across the country to manage lab operations and training. In the first phase, selected teachers will undergo advanced training to serve as master trainers, who will then train fellow educators and students. These innovation labs will nurture essential 21st-century skills such as creativity, critical thinking, and problem-solving, equipping students to meet future global challenges.

The state government believes this landmark initiative will position Uttar Pradesh as a hub of technology-driven education. Graduates of Atal Residential Schools will be empowered to lead not only academically but also technologically, contributing meaningfully to the future of the state and the nation.
