From 'Education to Pension', AI support for all, Yogi Government gives social welfare a smart touch

Lucknow, September 9: Yogi government is giving new momentum to good governance in Uttar Pradesh by integrating public welfare schemes with modern technology. In this sequence, Social Welfare Department is emerging as one of the leading departments promoting the use of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Department has initiated this process in the education sector and is now preparing to use AI in schemes such as pension, Rashtriya Parivarik Labh and scholarship. The objective is to make monitoring of schemes and beneficiary-related processes simpler, faster, and more transparent through technology.

Social Welfare Department has initiated the use of AI-based technologies in Jai Prakash Narayan Sarvodaya Vidyalayas. Students are being connected with modern education through smart classes, digital content, 3D videos and AI-based language learning labs. Under the Adobe Education India initiative, students and teachers are also being trained in digital creativity and AI skills through the Adobe Digital Academy. This enables students to learn future-relevant skills such as digital storytelling, creative problem-solving, and AI-assisted content creation.

AI-based certificate verification has been proposed for the old-age pension and Rashtriya Parivarik Labh Yojana. This will make certificate verification simpler and faster. Technology-based verification will make delivering scheme benefits to eligible beneficiaries more effective.

Preparations are also underway to use AI for analyzing data related to applications and benefit distribution under the scholarship scheme. Data analysis will make the monitoring of the scheme more effective. This will enable better assessment of the scheme's implementation status and facilitate necessary improvements.

Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Social Welfare, Aseem Arun, stated, "Government's objective is not merely to operate schemes, but to ensure that their benefits reach eligible persons on time." He added, "Use of AI will help enhance efficiency in the monitoring of schemes, data analysis and verification of certificates." Work will be undertaken to provide students in government hostels with AI and curriculum-based training.
