Indian Women Wrestlers Add Three More Medals at U20 World Championships

New Delhi, August 22, 2026 India’s women wrestlers continued their impressive run at the U20 World Championships in Slovakia, adding three more medals to the country’s growing tally. Mansi Lather secured a silver medal, while Tanvi Gundesh Magdum and Komal claimed bronze, further highlighting India’s strong performance across multiple weight categories. In the 68kg final, Mansi fought a closely contested bout against China’s Chenling Song but narrowly lost 1-2, finishing with the silver medal. India added two more medals through the bronze medal playoffs, where Tanvi defeated Canada’s Agnia Krakovska 10-4 in the 57kg category, while Komal registered a 5-2 victory over Hungary’s Eda Balazs in the 59kg division to secure bronze. Earlier on Friday, Kajal Dhochak had won gold in the women’s 76kg category, while Tanu Sharma and Savita earned silver medals in their respective divisions. The 18-year-old Kajal defeated China’s Jingru Sun 7-0 in the final to become world champion, adding to her U17 World Championship title in the 69kg category in 2024 and her U20 World Championship gold in the 72kg division in 2025. She has also won gold at the U23 Asian Championships and the Budapest Ranking Series earlier this year. Meanwhile, Tanu lost 3-5 to Japan’s Chisato Yoshida in the 72kg final, while Savita suffered a 2-12 defeat by technical superiority against Japan’s Sakura Onishi in the 62kg final. As the competition moves towards its final stage, the Indian contingent will now compete in the remaining men’s freestyle events in the 57kg, 65kg, 79kg and 92kg categories. With several medals already secured by the women’s team, India will look to end its U20 World Championships campaign with more strong performances and additions to its overall medal tally.
