India Create History with Dominant Lord’s Test Triumph

New Delhi, July 13, 2026 India’s women’s team delivered a commanding performance at Lord’s, securing a historic 270-run victory over England in the one-off Test to register their first-ever women’s Test win at the iconic venue. The result highlighted India’s growing strength in red-ball cricket, as the visitors outplayed England in every department to add another memorable chapter to their Test journey. Set a daunting target of 457, England were bowled out for 186 in 62.5 overs on the fourth morning. Sneh Rana starred with figures of 4/42, while Deepti Sharma claimed 2/36 to lead India’s bowling effort. England resumed the day at 130/6, but Rana struck early by dismissing Amy Jones for 54. Issy Wong and Sophie Ecclestone added some resistance before Deepti removed Wong, and Rana later bowled Ecclestone for a fighting 50 to complete India’s emphatic victory. India’s success was built on an outstanding all-round display across the four-day contest. Vice-captain Smriti Mandhana laid the platform with scores of 83 and 70, while Yastika Bhatia’s 113 became the first century scored in a women’s Test at Lord’s. Richa Ghosh contributed an unbeaten half-century, and Kranti Gaud also made an important impact with the ball earlier in the match. The victory marked India’s seventh win in their last 11 women’s Tests and ensured their unbeaten record in women’s Test matches in England remained intact. The landmark triumph came in the presence of Sachin Tendulkar, who addressed the Indian squad before play began on the final day. ICC Chairman Jay Shah, BCCI Vice-President Rajeev Shukla and Secretary Devajit Saikia were also present to witness the historic occasion.
