Chennai Trail Deepens Agra Suitcase Murder Mystery

New Delhi, August 23, 2026 A disturbing murder investigation that began with the recovery of decomposed human body parts from a suitcase on a train in Agra has now led investigators to Chennai. CCTV footage and subsequent police action have revealed crucial clues, including the identity of the victim and two suspects who are currently on the run. Police have identified the victim as Hayuthan Nisha, a 38-year-old woman from Odisha. Investigators believe she was allegedly killed and her body was dismembered by two suspects. The case came to light on August 5, when a train travelling from Chennai Central to New Delhi reached Agra Railway Station. Passengers noticed a foul smell coming from a suitcase and alerted the police. When railway authorities opened it, they found decomposed human body parts, prompting an immediate investigation. During the investigation, Agra Railway Police examined CCTV footage and spotted two suspects, following which Chennai Central Railway Police were informed. Police later identified two individuals carrying a similar trolley while boarding the train. The suspects were identified as Manik Uddin Laskar and Bhagabati Majhi, and investigators subsequently traced their residence in Chennai's Guduvancheri. During a search of the house, police allegedly recovered additional decomposed body parts from a cooking vessel. "We are enquiring. Once we catch the two suspects, we will get to know the motive of the murder. The two suspects are on the run. Based on scientific evidence, it will be clear whether the body parts belong to the same person," a police official said. Based on a complaint filed by the victim's son, police have registered a missing person case, and further investigation is underway. As the search for the two absconding suspects continues, investigators are working to determine the motive behind the alleged murder and establish, through scientific evidence, whether all the recovered body parts belong to the same victim.
