India Successfully Tests Agni-5 Missile with MIRV Capability

The development highlights the country’s growing strategic and technological strength in advanced missile systems and long-range deterrence capabilities. The missile was tested by the Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) from Dr APJ Abdul Kalam Island. MIRV, or Multiple Independently Targetable Re-entry Vehicle technology, enables a single missile to carry multiple warheads that can strike different targets independently. With this achievement, India has entered the group of nations possessing advanced MIRV capability. Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced the success of Mission Divyastra and congratulated the scientists and teams involved in the project. The Agni-5 missile, known for its long operational range and strategic importance, is considered a key part of India’s defence preparedness and national security framework. The successful test marks another important step in strengthening India’s defence infrastructure and showcases the country’s progress in indigenous military technology. The achievement is being seen as a significant boost to India’s strategic deterrence capability on the global stage.
