New Delhi,May 18, 2026 India’s famous GI-tagged mangoes are not just seasonal favourites but also symbols of the country’s rich agricultural heritage and regional identity. Every variety reflects the climate, soil, and traditional farming practices of its place of origin, making each mango unique in flavour, texture, and aroma. The growing recognition of these mangoes highlights how deeply food and culture are connected across different parts of the country.

Among the most popular varieties is the Alphonso mango from Maharashtra’s Konkan region, widely known for its smooth texture, vibrant pulp, and strong fragrance. Gujarat’s Kesar mango is admired for its sweetness and bright colour, while West Bengal’s Himsagar remains a favourite because of its juicy and fibreless flesh.

The increasing popularity of GI-tagged mangoes in both Indian and international markets shows a growing appreciation for authenticity and regional specialties.
