Lucknow, 20 Aug, 2026 10:15 PMNew Delhi, August 20, 2026 Swami Ramanand Teerth Marathwada University in Nanded has secured an Indian patent for a nanostructured drug delivery technology designed to address a key challenge in tuberculosis treatment—the poor water solubility of certain anti-tubercular medicines. The innovation represents a step towards improving modern drug delivery methods and enhancing the therapeutic potential of such drugs. The patent, titled “Nanostructured Delivery Device for Poorly Water-Soluble Anti-Tubercular Drugs and Method Thereof,” has been granted to the university for 20 years, according to an official release. The research centres on a nanostructured delivery system intended to improve how anti-tubercular medicines with low water solubility are delivered. According to the university, the technology could improve the delivery of these medicines within the body, potentially increasing their therapeutic effectiveness. Poor water solubility can create difficulties in the efficient administration and absorption of certain drugs, making improved delivery mechanisms an important area of pharmaceutical research. The patented technology is being viewed as a contribution to the advancement of modern drug delivery systems. By focusing on the challenges linked to poorly water-soluble anti-tubercular medicines, the development could open new possibilities for making such treatments more effectively administered and therapeutically efficient.
