The senior cardiologist, with over four decades of experience, recently highlighted that certain oils can play a meaningful role in improving immunity, digestion, skin health, and energy levels when used correctly and in moderation. Sharing insights on their benefits, Dr Chopra explained that oils like black seed (kalonji) oil can support immunity and gut health, while flaxseed oil, rich in omega-3 fatty acids, helps maintain hormonal balance and brain function. Castor oil, when used occasionally, may aid digestion and detoxification, whereas sesame oil is known to strengthen bones and improve skin health through cooking, massage, or traditional practices like oil pulling. He also pointed out the benefits of modern wellness options such as MCT oil, which provides quick energy and supports metabolism when added to beverages like coffee or smoothies. At the same time, he stressed the importance of using certain oils like neem oil and amla oil only externally, as they are primarily beneficial for skin, scalp, and hair health due to their antibacterial and cooling properties.
