Maharashtra | 6 Feb 2026 Sukumar’s Pushpa 2: The Rule, starring Allu Arjun and Rashmika Mandanna, has achieved a major milestone in Japan. Released there as Pushpa Kunrin on January 16, the film collected over ₹6 crore (¥105 million) in just 14 days, securing a spot among the top 10 highest-grossing Indian films in the country. The film’s strong word of mouth in cities like Tokyo and Osaka helped it surpass Aamir Khan’s Dhoom 3 (¥104.5 million) to claim the 10th position. While Pushpa 2 has impressed Japanese audiences, it still trails far behind the record-holder RRR, which leads with a staggering ¥2.42 billion (₹139.79 crore). Other films ahead of Pushpa 2 include Rajinikanth’s Muthu (¥405 million), Prabhas’ Baahubali 2: The Conclusion (¥305 million), Aamir Khan’s 3 Idiots (¥170 million), and Sridevi’s English Vinglish (¥160 million). To move up the list, Pushpa 2 will need to surpass Rajinikanth’s Enthiran (¥109.6 million) for the ninth spot. The film, featuring Allu Arjun, Rashmika Mandanna, and Fahadh Faasil in lead roles, has already been a global success, earning ₹1,871 crore worldwide during its initial release in India in 2024. Its Japan run marks another international achievement for the action-packed sequel. With fans continuing to flock to theaters in Japan and positive reviews spreading across regions, Pushpa 2 demonstrates the growing popularity of Indian cinema in international markets, even if the path to topping charts like RRR remains challenging.
