Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte Face Off in Netflix’s ‘Akka’

New Delhi, October 22, 2026 Netflix is bringing a gripping tale of power, ambition and legacy to the screen with Akka, starring Keerthy Suresh and Radhika Apte. Set in the fictional kingdom of Pernuru, where women lead powerful houses, the series follows a world of authority and influence as an outsider challenges its established order. Keerthy Suresh plays Bhavani, a woman determined to protect her legacy, while Radhika Apte portrays Rudra, who is ready to challenge the existing system to pursue her ambitions. Speaking about her role, Keerthy said, “Bhavani is a woman who knows what she stands for and will go to great lengths to protect her legacy. What makes her interesting is that beneath her strength and authority are choices that are never easy, especially when the stakes are so high.” Radhika Apte described her character, saying, “Rudra is someone who refuses to be defined by the circumstances she finds herself in. She is fierce, has her own ambitions, and is willing to challenge the established order, which makes her a fascinating character to explore.” Written and directed by Dharmaraj Shetty, the series is produced by YRF Entertainment. Shetty said, “What drew me to Akka was the chance to give the gangster genre a world with its own rules, and to tell a large, entertaining saga through characters and relationships we don’t often see at its centre.” Netflix India Series Head Tanya Bami added, “With Akka, audiences will enter the fictional world of Pernuru where women are not just part of the story, they are the power centre.” The cast also features Tanvi Azmi, Mahesh Manjrekar, Anshuman Pushkar and Monica Panwar. Akka will premiere on Netflix on October 30, adding to the platform’s collaboration with YRF Entertainment, known for projects such as The Romantics, The Railway Men, Maharaj and Mandala Murders. With its women-led story and power-driven conflicts, the series explores who gets to rule Pernuru and what happens when that control is challenged.
