Lucknow, 28 Oct, 2026 08:40 PMNew Delhi, October 28, 2026 Sometimes, the strongest expressions of care come through actions rather than words. Janhvi Kapoor recently shared a deeply personal memory about Shikhar Pahariya, revealing how he made an unexpected change to his life to remain close to her after the death of her mother, Sridevi, in 2018. Speaking on Koffee With Karan 9, the actress recalled a gesture that she discovered only much later, offering a glimpse into the emotional support she received during one of the most difficult phases of her life. During the conversation, host Karan Johar recalled how Shikhar had stood by Janhvi during her period of grief, even though the two were not officially dating at the time. When Karan asked whether she had always believed Shikhar was the person she would eventually end up with, Janhvi revealed that he had taken time away from his studies in London and travelled to Mumbai. She explained that he initially stayed with his father before moving into a friend's home in Juhu for around a month. Janhvi said she learned about this arrangement much later and clarified that they were not meeting every day. According to her, Shikhar simply wanted to remain nearby in case she needed him. The gesture carried particular significance because Janhvi was dealing with the loss of her mother at the time. Sridevi passed away in Dubai on February 24, 2018, just months before Janhvi made her Bollywood debut with Dhadak. Shikhar's decision to stay close during that period reflected a form of support that did not depend on public declarations or an officially defined relationship. Janhvi has spoken about Shikhar's importance in her life on several occasions. In an earlier interview, she revealed that he had been part of her life since she was around 15 or 16 years old. She has also described their connection as one shaped by shared aspirations and mutual encouragement. Their public appearances together and Janhvi's affectionate nickname for him, “Shiku,” have frequently drawn attention, but her latest revelation highlights a more private side of their relationship. Janhvi's account offers a reminder that meaningful relationships are often defined by the support people provide when life becomes difficult. Shikhar's decision to stay close without expecting recognition stands out as a personal gesture that Janhvi herself only fully understood years later. Beyond public appearances and speculation about their relationship, the memory highlights the importance of being present for someone during their most vulnerable moments.
