Huma Qureshi Sees Growth, Not Rivalry, as Two Women-Led Films Release Together

New Delhi, July 8, 2026 The simultaneous release of Baby Do Die Do and Alpha marks an encouraging moment for Hindi cinema, highlighting the increasing presence of women-led action films in mainstream entertainment. While the films have sparked discussions about a box office clash, Huma Qureshi believes the focus should remain on the wider success of female-driven storytelling rather than competition. Speaking about the release, Huma said she does not view Alpha as a rival and believes there is enough space for different kinds of films to find their audience. She also described the release of two female-led action films on the same weekend as a positive sign for the industry, adding that she is happy to support not only her own film but also other women-led projects. Directed by Nachiket Samant, Baby Do Die Do is produced by Huma Qureshi and Saqib Saleem under the Saleem Siblings banner. The film features Huma as a deaf and mute assassin who is guided by the voice of her late sister, alongside Seema Pahwa, Sikander Kher, Chunky Pandey and Rachit Singh. Meanwhile, *Alpha*, produced by Yash Raj Films and directed by Shiv Rawail, stars Alia Bhatt, Sharvari, Anil Kapoor and Bobby Deol in an action thriller centred on an assassin who uncovers hidden truths about her past. With both films arriving in theatres together, the moment reflects the growing acceptance of women-led stories in commercial cinema. Their release signals a broader shift in the industry, where female-centric action films are increasingly earning space and recognition on the big screen.
