Alia Bhatt to Present at Earthshot Prize 2026 in Mumbai

New Delhi, October 01, 2026 Mumbai is gearing up for an international evening that will put environmental innovation in the spotlight, with some of the biggest names from entertainment and sport expected to attend. Alia Bhatt has been announced as one of the presenters for The Earthshot Prize 2026 Awards Night, where she will present one of the five awards. The ceremony is particularly significant as the prestigious environmental event is coming to India for the first time. Alia will be joined by an impressive line-up that includes Oscar winner Rami Malek, cricket icon Sachin Tendulkar, Bridgerton actor Simone Ashley and Sonam Kapoor. Karan Johar will take on hosting duties for the November 17 ceremony, although the Mumbai venue has not been revealed yet. Organisers expect the gathering to attract approximately 5,000 guests representing cinema, music, sports and environmental causes. Launched by Prince William in 2020, The Earthshot Prize was created to recognise people and projects developing practical responses to some of the world's most pressing environmental problems. The initiative aims to identify 50 winners over a ten-year period whose work can help protect and restore the planet. This year's ceremony will introduce another milestone, with Prime Video streaming the awards globally for the first time in more than 240 countries and territories and over 40 languages. Alia spoke about what the honour represents to her, saying, “The Earthshot Prize is really about hope… but hope that comes with ideas, action and people who are finding new ways forward. That’s what makes it so inspiring to be a part of.” Reflecting on Mumbai becoming the host city, she added, “There are people across the world doing incredible work to protect and repair our planet, often in ways we may never have imagined. And to have Mumbai bring all these people together feels very special.” The event is also expected to feature Earthshot Ambassadors Robert Irwin and Nomzamo Mbatha, while Shreya Ghoshal is scheduled to perform live. With personalities from different parts of the world converging in Mumbai, the 2026 Earthshot Prize ceremony will combine entertainment with a focus on environmental ideas, innovators and solutions aimed at addressing challenges facing the planet.
