“A New Era in Filmmaking”: Rakesh Roshan Praises Aditya Dhar for ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’

New Delhi | March 21, 2026 Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has lauded director Aditya Dhar for his latest film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, calling it a remarkable achievement in modern cinema. Sharing his views on social media, Roshan expressed admiration for Dhar’s vision and described the film as a significant milestone in storytelling. Roshan revealed that he recently watched the sequel to Dhar’s 2025 film and was deeply impressed by its execution. He noted that the film has already crossed ₹100 crore at the box office on its opening day, reflecting its strong audience response. The movie features Ranveer Singh in the lead role, alongside R. Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Sara Arjun, and Rakesh Bedi, who reprise their roles. In his post, Roshan wrote, "I just watched ADITYA DHAR'S HISTORIC 'DHURANDHAR', and it is a reminder to all of us filmmakers to pause and reset the fabric of cinema with the vision, passion and audacity with which Aditya has made 'Dhurandhar'. He has started a new era in filmmaking!" He further added, "This should not be considered as a threat, but a healthy and much-needed revolution in storytelling and entertainment. It was about time, and @adityadharfilms has delivered beyond expectations! God bless and more power to you, Aditya." Set against the backdrop of Karachi, particularly the volatile Lyari area, the film explores covert intelligence operations tied to major geopolitical events such as the Kandahar hijack, the 2001 Parliament attack, and the 26/11 Mumbai attacks. The sequel focuses on the rise of Ranveer Singh’s character, Hamza Ali Mazari, tracing his journey from Jaskirat Singh Rangi to a powerful figure in the underworld. “A New Era in Filmmaking”: Rakesh Roshan Praises Aditya Dhar for ‘Dhurandhar: The Revenge’ Veteran filmmaker Rakesh Roshan has lauded director Aditya Dhar for his latest film Dhurandhar: The Revenge, calling it a remarkable achievement in modern cinema.
