Lucknow, 15 May, 2026 09:48 PMLucknow, May 15, 2026 With the monsoon season approaching, the Uttar Pradesh government has accelerated its flood preparedness measures to strengthen disaster response across vulnerable regions. The administration is focusing on early planning, faster coordination, and improved emergency infrastructure to minimise the impact of heavy rainfall and flooding during the coming months. As part of the preparations, flood control rooms will be set up in all divisions by May 31 to ensure continuous monitoring and quick response during emergencies. Officials have also been directed to keep departments on alert and complete flood protection projects within the given timelines. Work related to embankment strengthening, drainage improvement, and anti-erosion measures is being prioritised in flood-prone districts. The state government is also enhancing rescue and relief arrangements by ensuring the availability of emergency equipment, medical support, and evacuation plans. Authorities are expected to maintain round-the-clock surveillance of river water levels and coordinate closely with local administrations to improve response efficiency during the monsoon period. The proactive approach reflects the government’s focus on reducing risks to life, agriculture, and infrastructure during the rainy season. By strengthening preparedness and improving coordination at every level, Uttar Pradesh aims to handle potential flood situations more effectively this year.
