Smoke Alert Forces IndiGo Flight to Make Safe Emergency Landing in Rajkot

New Delhi, July 27, 2026 A timely emergency response ensured the safety of everyone on board after an IndiGo flight operating from Dubai to Mumbai made an unscheduled landing at Rajkot International Airport on Monday. The precautionary landing followed a smoke alert detected by the pilot, highlighting the importance of quick decision-making and established aviation safety procedures. According to initial information, the pilot noticed smoke during the flight and immediately contacted Rajkot Air Traffic Control (ATC), requesting permission for an emergency landing. The aircraft landed safely, while police personnel, fire brigade teams and ambulances remained on standby as a precautionary measure to handle any potential emergency. Following the landing, all passengers were safely evacuated from the aircraft. Rajkot Police Commissioner said there was no cause for concern, adding that all passengers were safe and had been evacuated. Authorities carried out the necessary safety measures to ensure the situation remained under control. The incident marks the second emergency involving an IndiGo flight in recent months. While the aircraft landed without any injuries or major disruption, the episode once again underlines the importance of prompt action by the flight crew and emergency responders in maintaining passenger safety.
