Several Trains Cancelled, Rajdhani Services Delayed Ahead of Delhi Protest

Lucknow, 9 Oct, 2026 06:11 PMNew Delhi, 09 October 2026 Indian Railways has cancelled several train services and rescheduled two trains scheduled to arrive at New Delhi and Hazrat Nizamuddin railway stations on October 10, 2026. The changes have been announced in view of anticipated traffic congestion in central Delhi due to a proposed protest at Jantar Mantar. The decision is expected to affect passengers travelling to the national capital during the morning and early afternoon. According to railway authorities, the restrictions will affect train services scheduled to arrive at the two stations between 4 am and 2 pm on Saturday. Mail and Express trains that departed or were scheduled to depart from their originating stations after 2 pm on October 9 and were due to reach Delhi during this period have been cancelled at source as a precautionary measure. Eastern Railway has cancelled two Rajdhani Express services originating from West Bengal: the 12301 Howrah–New Delhi Rajdhani Express and the 12313 Sealdah–New Delhi Rajdhani Express. Other cancelled trains include the 20155 Dr Ambedkar Nagar–New Delhi, 09309 Indore–Hazrat Nizamuddin, 12415 Indore–New Delhi, 12247 Bandra Terminus–Hazrat Nizamuddin and 12957 Sabarmati–New Delhi services. Meanwhile, two trains originating from Mumbai have been rescheduled by five hours. These are the 12951 Mumbai Central–New Delhi Tejas Rajdhani Express and the 12953 Mumbai Central–Hazrat Nizamuddin service. Passengers travelling on these trains are advised to check the revised departure schedules before leaving for their respective stations. Ahead of the proposed demonstration, Delhi Police has imposed restrictions under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS) in the New Delhi area. Police have warned against unauthorised gatherings and stated that violations of the restrictions may invite legal action. The railway changes and police restrictions are intended to address possible disruptions associated with the proposed protest. Passengers planning to travel to Delhi on October 10 should check official railway announcements for the latest information on cancellations, running status and revised timings before starting their journey.
