Lucknow, 31 Oct, 2026 09:49 PMNew Delhi, October 31, 2026 Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has announced a new chapter in his personal life, confirming his marriage to journalist Nidhi Razdan through social media on Saturday. Sharing a photograph of the couple on Instagram, Abdullah revealed that the wedding had taken place a day earlier. He captioned the picture, “A new journey began yesterday”, while tagging Razdan in the post. Razdan also confirmed the marriage through a post on X, tagging Omar Abdullah and writing, “It’s done, bro". The announcement comes nearly three months after the Supreme Court agreed to dissolve Abdullah's marriage with his estranged wife, Payal Abdullah. On July 31, 2026, the court said it would dissolve the marriage after both parties informed it that they had mutually agreed to separate, settle their pending disputes and withdraw the cases filed against each other. The matter had reached the Supreme Court after Omar Abdullah challenged the Delhi High Court's decision refusing to grant him a divorce. During the proceedings, both parties jointly sought dissolution of their marriage by mutual consent under Article 142 of the Constitution. Senior advocate Kapil Sibal, representing the couple, informed the court that they had agreed to resolve their differences. Omar Abdullah and Payal married in 1994 after meeting while working at The Oberoi hotel in Delhi and have two sons, Zahir and Zamir. The couple had been living separately since 2009, while Omar Abdullah announced their separation publicly in 2011. The Supreme Court had also taken note of their prolonged separation during the proceedings. Following the mutual agreement to end their marriage and settle the pending legal disputes, Omar Abdullah has now publicly shared his wedding to Nidhi Razdan, bringing a significant personal development into the spotlight.
