Namo Bharat Corridor Set to Connect Kanpur and Ayodhya

Lucknow, June 10, 2026 Uttar Pradesh is preparing to expand its high-speed regional transport network with a proposed Namo Bharat corridor connecting Kanpur and Ayodhya. The project reflects the state's growing focus on modern infrastructure and faster inter-city travel, aiming to improve connectivity between major urban centres and religious destinations while supporting economic growth and regional development. Following the progress of the Namo Bharat system on the Delhi-Meerut route, authorities have begun planning a new corridor that will pass through Kanpur, Unnao, Lucknow, Barabanki and Ayodhya. The proposed route is expected to cover nearly 187 kilometres and will include 12 stations. Officials believe the project will provide a reliable and rapid travel option for commuters, business travellers and pilgrims. According to the preliminary plan, trains on the corridor will operate at high speeds, significantly reducing travel time between the connected cities. The route is being designed to strengthen transportation links across central Uttar Pradesh and improve access to Ayodhya, which has witnessed a steady rise in visitor numbers in recent years. While the project is still in the planning stage, its inclusion in the State Capital Region development vision highlights the government's long-term infrastructure goals. If approved and implemented as proposed, the Kanpur-Ayodhya Namo Bharat corridor could become a major step toward creating a faster, more integrated transport network across Uttar Pradesh.
