Lucknow, 25 Apr, 2026 09:59 AMImphal, April 25, 2026 Fresh violence in Manipur highlights the growing complexity of ethnic tensions in the state, as clashes are no longer limited to earlier fault lines. The latest incident in Ukhrul district reflects a widening conflict, raising serious concerns about stability and peace in the region. At least three people were killed in separate gunfights between Naga and Kuki groups in the Litan area. The clashes reportedly began at night and continued into the next morning, creating fear among residents. Both sides have blamed each other for initiating the violence, further escalating mistrust between the communities. The confrontation involved local village volunteers from the Tangkhul Naga side and armed Kuki groups. Security concerns remain high as such incidents add to the already tense situation in Manipur, which has witnessed repeated ethnic conflicts in recent years. This development signals a troubling expansion of unrest beyond existing conflicts, making peace efforts more challenging. With tensions now spreading across multiple communities, restoring normalcy in Manipur appears increasingly difficult without sustained intervention and dialogue.
