Magenta Line to Become Delhi Metro’s Longest Corridor at 89 km, Boosting Connectivity Across the Capital

New Delhi | 11 Feb 2026 The Delhi Metro’s Magenta Line is set to become the longest corridor in the network, stretching approximately 89 kilometres and featuring the highest number of interchange and underground stations, officials said. The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) announced that this expansion will greatly strengthen connectivity across the national capital. Following the sanction of Phase V, the Magenta Line will be extended from Ramakrishna Ashram Marg to Indraprastha via Central Vista. Additionally, the Indraprastha–Inderlok corridor under Phase IV will be implemented as part of the Magenta Line, taking its total length from Botanical Garden to Inderlok to around 89 kilometres. DMRC said the entire corridor will operate as a driverless metro once completed. The expanded Magenta Line will feature 21 interchange stations, up from the current four operational interchanges at Kalkaji Mandir, Botanical Garden, Janakpuri West, and Hauz Khas. “An additional 17 interchange stations will come up under Phase IV and Phase V,” the DMRC said, including key stops like Terminal 1 IGI Airport, Central Secretariat, Indraprastha, New Delhi, and Inderlok. Central Secretariat, Azadpur, New Delhi, and Inderlok will serve as triple interchange stations, enhancing seamless transfers across the network. The corridor will have a total of 65 stations, of which 40 will be underground. Notable engineering landmarks include Haiderpur Badli Mor, set to be the highest-elevated metro station in the network at about 28.36 metres, while Hauz Khas remains the deepest underground station at approximately 29 metres. According to DMRC, the extensive interchange network is expected to reduce travel time, ease congestion on key routes, and provide smooth connectivity for commuters across Delhi.
