Jaishankar’s Multi-Nation Tour Highlights India’s Expanding Global Diplomatic and Trade Agenda

New Delhi, July 5, 2026 India is stepping up its diplomatic outreach through a series of high-level engagements aimed at strengthening strategic partnerships, boosting economic cooperation, and expanding its global influence. External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar’s multi-country visit reflects New Delhi’s focus on deepening bilateral ties while advancing key international and trade priorities. According to the Ministry of External Affairs (MEA), Jaishankar will visit Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, New York, and Brussels from July 5 to 15. Between July 5 and 10, he will undertake official visits to Qatar, Bahrain, Kuwait, and Oman, where he will meet his counterparts and the respective leadership. The visit will focus on enhancing bilateral relations while providing an opportunity to exchange views on regional developments and issues of mutual interest. On July 13, Jaishankar will travel to New York to formally launch India’s campaign for a non-permanent seat on the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) for the 2028–29 term. He will then attend the third India-European Union Trade and Technology Council (TTC) meeting in Brussels on July 14 and 15, where he will also hold discussions with counterparts from the European Union and Belgium. Meanwhile, Union Commerce and Industry Minister Piyush Goyal said that Union Minister for Railways, Information and Broadcasting, Electronics and Information Technology Ashwini Vaishnaw will also travel to Brussels to participate in the third India-EU Trade and Technology Council (TTC) meeting. He said the meeting would further strengthen the recently concluded India-European Union Free Trade Agreement (FTA) and support its implementation. Speaking to reporters during the 17th Toy Biz International B2B Expo, Goyal said, “We are all going for the meeting with the European Commission.” He further said, “Our effort is that this should complement the free trade agreement (FTA) that we have finalised. It will help us fine-tune the details of the agreement and make it easier to implement the FTA and benefit from it in the future.” The government expects the TTC discussions to deepen India-EU cooperation in key areas such as trade, technology, and resilient supply chains. The dialogue is also expected to facilitate the effective implementation of the FTA, reinforcing the long-term economic and strategic partnership between India and the European Union.
